Walmart to discontinue carrying Remington 120 Blackout

Post by A-Game »

I was at Walmart yesterday and was told by a Walmart associate that they would no longer be carrying the 120gr Blackout from Remington. It had a red price tag and he said that means they wouldn't carry it anymore.

I have seen it red tagged at a few other stores. The price hasn't changed.

Anyone else come across this?

None of the Walmart's near me have ever carried 300 BO ammo. Usually "red tag" items sell at a reduced price to clear inventory.

I take it as an early sign Remington will be dropping that UPC from their lineup. Since it was outsourced to Barnes, I expect they will come out with a new UPC and produce something similar with their own headstamp.

How about if they replace it with a fifty or hunderd round box of 130gn ball or a reasonably priced plinker 110? I think folks might buy that if, you know, they actually stocked it regular...

If I remember, I'll ask the guy who buys ammo for WM about this later this week.

That explains why they never replaced the ones that I purchased.

a red tag at walmart is a discontinued SKU. it may or may not be clearanced priced while red taged. these can be a single store based discontinuing or chain wide discontinuing sales.

the sky was blue, I'd step outside to double check. They also say there's no 22LR (because they sold it all to friends and relatives).

Of course all the 300blk ammo I see on the local shelves is dusty, even at 16.44, it's still hard to swallow to plink with. Low sales makes it go away, so maybe he made a good guess.
