BERGER 210 VLD

Post by CAR-VER »

1ST post here, been trying to learn about my new Micro 7 by just reading all the other posts.
What about the Berger 210 as a sub load. Cant find info about it. Thought since is is so explosive at 2800fps , it might expand some at 1050fps ??????????????????
New at loading subsonic and very aware of how dangerous a underloaded case is in a regular deer cartridge, so I am trying to get a load to try with my 5744.
Thanks

Not much room in there after sticking a 200 gr + bullet. I have never been able to get enough 5744 in a case. But so far do not own an ar so that might make a difference. 110, 296, A1680 work real good...and no - the Berger will not open up! At least mine won't.

5744 takes up the same room as 1680 does when i use it for sub loads. Just start with 11.2 grs of 1680 but for 5744 i would have to look back in my data to see where that powder would be good to start at. Then adjust when you see what the chrono says.

I have loaded some sub loads with the Berger 210 VLD Target and really like it. I opted to go with H4198 as my powder choice for the round and it functioned great. I'm running a 16" CMMG with a carbine tube. The load I found with the lowest extreme spread was 10.5gr pressed to 2.200". Average speed was 992fps with an ES of 34fps. The load I like the best and will probably settle on is 10.8gr pressed to 2.200". Average speed was 1033fps with an ES of 74. Both loads functioned and lock back my rifle. I just like the later because its more velocity but still in the sub range.

I use 11.2gr of 5744.

I have found that 1680 and 5744 track nearly the same grain for grain. Subsonic is not a problem, just adjust load up if you are still under subsonic. Or down if you are supersonic. I like to keep mine as close to 1075 fps to allow for environmental variables and charge variances.

I haven't tried any of the burger 210 vld's. They are just to much money for me to shoot and plink with. At $40+ a box of the burgers compared to $28 for the amax. I stick with my amax and shoot twice as many! lol...

I had some Berger 210 VLD left over so I shot them in 300 BLK.

I now shoot 208gr AMAX with 11 gr 5744 and average 1180 fps last time I chronographed the load.

Certainly plenty of room for subsonic powder loads.

I think we are talking 11g and I've stuffed a cae with 19.2g, so plenty of room.

Anybody know where to find load info for this bullet?

Im running an 8" AR.

I did some searching and havent found much yet.

I have pleanty to load up so im gonna do just that, maybe think about doing a run for each powder.

Got 1100 to burn up so i figured i should get a good load worked up.

I think cfeblk and 1680 are my best bet for function.

I have lilgun, h110, cfeblk, 1680, d063-02.

Did some more research and compared subload velocities from previous testing with 208 amax and different powders and settled on some numbers, so im good to go now. Hopefully this time some other powders work, im going to open up my adj. Gas block for testing.
