I took my bad mold of this model, and chopped it down with an end mill in a drill press. It is now plain base 175 grains with wheel weight or 168 with LinoType.

I did some preliminary test shooting last weekend out of 308 Nato, and 30-06. Both 1-10 barrels. Satisfactory enough starting results. I only had WW alloy for the test batch, and there was apparently low antimony, because I couldn't get them to heat treat any harder than 14 BHN. So I tested them with moderate loads. They were stable and consistently hit to point of aim. I didn't work up proper ladders to find a dialed load, but I think it's going to be a good shooter.

I wanted to do the same... But chickened out as tge pins that hold the handles on the two cav are supah hard and like to eat the expensive bit!!!

So mine just sits and I use other molds. LEEs 155 has become a favorite. 3031 pushes mine at 1500 and they plop into single Holes at 50 and under 2" out at 100 yards. For me they are a plinker bullet.

I just drilled a little and drove them out with a punch. Do it that way.

I used a reamer and removed the boat tails. Shot it now in three different guns ZERO tumbling now and groups have been HALVED!!

Worst groups have been 2" @ 50 yrds. Most half that! I'm happy!CW

Just wondering what you're shooting them out of?

The reason I ask... I have a M1 Garand that too many GIs got overambitious with the cleaning rod and belled the mouth of the barrel. With boattails accuracy was the pits. But with flat base groups tightened considerably.
