Lee TL309-230-5R & Accurate 1680 load data

Post by dougstump »

After a two year hiatus thanks to cancer, I'm starting to get back into shooting & reloading. I shot up all my cast reloads and need to make more but I can't find the load data! AR-15, 16", 300 Blackout, subsonic, suppressed, Lee TL309-230-5R, powder coated, Accurate 1680. Can anybody give me a good load?

Back in October 2015, I found a lump in my neck (the only good lump is in your mashed potatoes). It was melanoma. They did a PET scan and found my whole abdomen was full of tumors. While I was down at M.D. Anderson in January 2016 one of the larger tumors ruptured the small bowel and three hours later I'm in the OR getting gutted like a catfish. Once I got healed up enough they started me on Keytruda. The tumors evaporated! I've been cancer free for a year now but still slowly recovering from the collateral damage. Prayers + attitude + heavy weapons!

Doug,

Glad to hear that the tumors are gone!

Sorry that I can't help with the load data. I am sure that someone else will chime in soon.

You, sir, are blessed.

Just looked and 10.9 grains of Accurate 1680 is good for 1106 fps in a 16" barrel with a 230 grain Berger and 12.7 grains (listed as max) gave 1288 fps according to the company's online loading data.

Hope this helps.

TKO,

Thanks, that was a big help. I looked through the load data stickies but couldn't find the right combination.

Yeah, they are making great strides killing cancer. Immunotherapy is a game changer.

Glad to help.

Glad the medical community was able to help you.

Lost my Dad, Mom and older brother to cancer, so I am always glad to hear of positive results.

If you are looking for subsonic, I would start with 10.0 grains and work down from there.

Good luck to you and God bless.

Glad you're back in the game. I'm no help with that combo, and I'm not much of a 1680 for subs fan. That said, with bullets in that weigh range in a 16" barrel I have generally found 1 grain is 100 fps from about 8.5 and up to pressure signs.

Here's a little better way to search
https://cse.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx ... tl9hapdoi0

plugging in "Lee 230 1680" came back with 10 pages. I'll let you decide what's relevant.
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.
