CTL312-160-2R nose diameter

Post by DAFzipper »

Anyone have a Lee CTL312-160-2R? If so what is the nose diameter. Has anyone shot this in a 300 blackout AR?

I measured a sample that has been laying on my desk for a couple of years.
Measured just above the crimp groove- .309". Measured about halfway up the nose its still .309".
In my opinion the nose is too "fat" to use on the 300 Blk.
I loaded it for a 300 Blk Begara barrel on a TC Encore. My notes list the cartridge overall length as 1.975", probably too short to function in an AR.
In contrast, the Noe 311 150g. SP (311414), measured at the same point is .303"
FYI: some members report using the Lee C312-155-2R. It may have slightly different dimensions. Maybe some of them will give you the measurements of this bullet.

I HAVE shot that one a fair amount in a couple of 16" barrels. My particular mold drops in the .311-.312" range and the nose tapers up to .310" just ahead of the crimp groove.
