It looks like either pitting or an inclusion to me. If the barrel has been nitride it rules out pitting. I would have CMMG look at that as well. It may not be the issue you are dealing with the yawing bullets but it also may rear it's ugly head later in the barrels life.Rooter pig wrote:10/4 and thank you sirs. Cmmg mentioned possibly recrowning as a option. I'll see what they email me back. Will you guys look at the bore pic I have posted. I scrubbed heck out of the bore but there's a spot that won't come out. Looks like a piece of rifling or a crack to me. Thanks .

Thanks X. I have sent cmmg that pic as well. We will see.
Re: Noe 230
Does that spot in the barrel happen to be related to the gas port, under or across?

Dellet...the spot in the bore is the gas port. Good eye sir.

If that's a big chunk out of the land like it looks like, it broke off when it was drilled and it's time for a new barrel.Rooter pig wrote:Dellet...the spot in the bore is the gas port. Good eye sir.
Did you send that pic to CMMG? If not you need to.
Make sure you mention that it is at the port when you talk/email.
I guess make sure that's not a shadow, maybe you can feel it with a bent wire?

Re: Noe 230
I did send that pic to cmmg. They said it was the gas port hole. I am in the process of getting there ok to send it back. They also say the crown might have a issue. I will stick a wire down there and see if I can feel it. Maybe the next endoscopy I can have the doc look at it. Lmao.
Re: Noe 230
I assumed it was the gas port hole as well, so I didn't comment on it earlier. I don't see anything necessarily wrong, just a big port for a short barrel. I hesitate to jump to any further conclusions based on that pic.

Cmmg wants the barrel back to examine. I'll mail it tomorrow.

I will offer to square up the shoulder if CMMG isn't able to fix it.
Also, do not crimp cast bullets. You just want to remove the bell. I have seen a lot of problems from crimping cast bullets. Also, what brass? If it is one of the thicker ones the neck might be staying closed and swaging the bullet down.
Also, cast bullets generally do not shoot as well as jacketed bullets.
