Wilson Combat Barrel Break-in

Post by Smily0 »

I just installed my Wilson Combat 16'' 1-8 fluted barrel. Do you have a specific break-in regiment you recommend, or juts follow the single shot, clean, and work my way up to larger groups cleaning every few?

Pretty much. Initially just watch for excessive fouling, maybe scrub out every few shots and then clean normally. In the long run, carbon fouling is more detrimental to accuracy than copper.

It was painfully tedious, but I cleaned after 1 shot the first 10, then a 3 shot, clean, and finally a 5 shot, clean, and then just let loose. My first single rounds were dirtier than the final cleaning of the day. Overall so far so good. I figured it wouldn't hurt to do a slower break in, even though all my buddies looked at me like I was nuts that day.
