Very happy with Mk116 300AAC

Post by k2ue »

Yesterday I got my first opportunity to get in some range time with my new Mk116 300AAC upper, after NY conversion with a pinned and welded PWS Compensator. Having asked about buffers beforehand, my rig was set up with a standard Carbine Buffer and Spring.

I was very impressed -- I have been a fan of piston AR's, and found the MK116 much smoother than the short-stroke piston 5.56 AR's I have used. Finally the power and capabilty of an AK, with the ergonomics of an AR -- and full capacity with my pre-ban AR mags (we still worry about that in NY).

It was not cheap. But it was worth it, and few things are.

Shoot softly, and carry a big clip.

Right on, congrats on the new rifle.
I love my PWS guns as well, so much so that I just got off the phone from ordering my wife a mk114 in 5.56.
The recoil impulse of the PWS guns is totally different from every other AR type I've shot. Much smoother and softer feeling. Even their 308 guns are soft shooting.
