I got a lovely little package in the mail last night from Grant's Pass, OR.
My Wife tucked it away in my man room and I almost didn't see it...

I opened up the box and for a second, I thought Noveske sent me someone else's parts.
Looking into the box, I saw a rectangular shape and thought that it way a handguard.
As I tore into it further, I saw that it was a box containing a complete barrel assembly in the new Noveske packaging.
(I hadn't seen the new packaging and my original Noveske barrel assembly came in a plain box.)

As I tore into the new barrel assembly, I was pleasantly surprised to see the gas port located squarely in one of the grooves.
Matt included the brass from the test rounds and everything with the new barrel looks perfect.
Tonight I bed the barrel extension into my upper and reassemble everything once the Devcon fully cures.

Stand by for a report on the accuracy potential of the barrel after my first range session...

...looking forward to your report, always laden with good technical info that I can add to the "library"

Well, I finally got my upper back together yesterday.
(I bedded the barrel extension into the upper with Devcon & had to give it 48 hrs to fully cure.)
Unfortunately, due to the weather, I only got to test fire it with 10 rounds.
Since it was a test firing, what the hell, I threw the hottest worst functioning ammo at it that I could, the 110 V-Max.

Fired all ten rounds and exhibited zero pressure signs or feeding issues. 8)
The only issue I had was one of the rounds had a light primer strike.
(That was due to the new barrel extension not being broken in and being dry.)

Stand by for an accuracy report next...

Sounds like your brass will be lasting longer also.

I can't believe you were just popping rounds off with no purpose, or are you still working out the scope mount?

LOL!!!
Yea, I was just making noise for the sake of testing.

Still need to figure out what to do to the scope rings to get some more elevation.

The weather was good enough for me to put about 30 rounds through my upper last night.
10 Subsonic 200 Grain DRT, 10 Subsonic 200 Grain NOE SP, & 10 Supersonic NOE CODs...
Was able to get a good zero re-established and proceeded to check things out.

I'm happy to report that all rounds functioned flawlessly.
The brass ejected consistently and all the subsonic rounds stayed subsonic.
The CODs look like they will shoot just as well as they did before.
(That's a big indicator that the key to that boolit is harness.)

All test shots were hastily shot and well within a 2 inch group at 100 yards.
Will be getting out to the big range this weekend to test for accuracy.
So far so good!

Good to hear Doc.

What velocity were the COD's running?

Didn't have a chance to shoot them over the chrono.
(I was in a rush and just wanted to test function & see where my zero ended up.)
This weekend, the weather is forecasted to be exceptional and I have plans to do an extended range session.
Hopefully I will have a lot to report on Monday.
I'll be sure to capture COD velocity and post it up as well.

After that, I need to come up with a final solution to get at least 20 MOA of elevation out of my rings.
With the current zero / setup, I only have enough travel left in the scope to get out to 250 yards with subsonic loads.
Anything beyond that, I have to max out the scope and use hold overs.
(To get to 300 yards with subsonic 220 SMKs requires max elevation and a 4-5 MIL hold.)

Initial range report:

The barrel appears to be a shooter.
Unfortunately, I forgot that I shot up all my 125 SMK MATCH loads testing my friends LMT barrel.
So, all I ended up testing was subsonic loads.

Accuracy will factory Gorilla 220 SMKs & 100 yards was 1 MOA.
My handloaded SMKs will likely do better, but I have not replaced my supply yet.
My 200 grain DRT loads were going supersonic, so I will have to rework the load for them.
My 198 grain NOE SP cast loads were staying subsonic, but I got a 4 MOA POI shift to the right with them. (weird...)

It looks like the gas port on my new barrel is slightly larger than my original barrel.
Absolutely zero cycling or function issues.
I did notice a bit of unburned powder in my action at the end of the day.
That is something that I had never seen with my previous barrel.
Hopefully I can isolate which rounds caused that. (I suspect that it is my 198 grain NOE SP cast sub loads.)

I did not test any of my supersonic loads or expensive hunting rounds.
I want to test them under ideal conditions so that I can best document POI shift.

As far as the NOE COD goes, I have ten loaded examples left to test with.
I will use them for a chrono test and post the results.
If memory serves me correctly, they were about 1,700 fps last time I tested them, but we will see when I get fresh data.

Unfortunately, it will probably we a couple of weeks before I can see what the full accuracy potential of the new barrel is.
It will take me that long to put together test protocol using 125 SMKs. (Will test with N110 & H110)

Broke out the chrono just for you...
10 shot average = 1,880 fps, SD=10
4 in group @ 100 yards (Good size if you consider typical supersonic COD groups...)
