I looked on the Hornady website, and it appears that the gel test shows 13" of penetration, with some primary and secondary cavitation. No fragmentation, but at least the bullet seems to perform better in gel than the Remington 220g round.

Your thoughts?

I'd be careful comparing one gel test to another. Unless they are perfectly calibrated, the temp of the gel, the temp of the ammo, etc etc -

it is a bit like comparing 0-60 numbers in car magazines - they are a useful guideline, but I wouldn't get too hung up on them translating perfectly into your reality.

If it had 13 inches of penetration then that would be good - but I don't see how. That is the depth I would expect for the 110 V-MAX.

208 A-Max 300 Whisper at 1020 FPS in a 16" barrel. Just a FYI

I saw that - I still don't believe it. If they had that now, then we already would have what people are trying to develop - a subsonic round with limited penetration.

Regardless of what they say, I think the velocity on that gel shot above was supersonic. The 208gr A-Max subsonic doesn't do shit. Cost me a nice 8-point, if you remember.

Several people asked me to announce when the milled handle Typhoons were back in stock. We now have them on the site. Thanks for your patience.
