There's another factor at work in social media: the selective editing, banning or shadowbanning of accounts by the media sites themselves. If they don't like you, you're gone. And usually there's no avenue for complaints. Some anonymous blue-haired Trigglypuff at Facebook can just decide that she doesn't like your conservative views, and your page is gone.

Fox conservative, MSNBC liberal or the latest liberals calling themselves progressive. At least with traditional news sources you can get different points of view from different channels.

.

even fox news gets sucked into the "trending on twitter" scam on a very regular basis...

for those who dont use social media much, its still hard to avoid dealing with social media. as noted above all the news outlets cover "trending" stuff in their coverage

and if nothing else - its good knowledge to have for those folks in your life who DO spend time on social media.

its not like this stuff is conspiracy theory type of an article... no tinfoil needed. These "like factories" are all over the world.

this video shows what a "click farm" can look like - often times 10,000 phones or more are linked up and controlled by a single operator on a computer running a script to make them do stuff

i showed this to my cousins kids - who of course as young teenagers are all over social media. it blew their minds when i told them i could buy 10,000 followers on instagram for around $75.

I’ve been working as an SMM advisor for 3 years already. I cannot deny that there are cases when accounts are banned for no plausible reason, but that doesn’t happen often. Usually, it is not difficult and doesn’t take long to restore them. One of the main reasons I am aware of is a quick escalation in gaining followers as the algorithm might block the user automatically. That’s why it is also important for those willing to gain followers to use trusted services to gain active users who will engage with your posts. I’ve used https://1394ta.org/buy-instagram-followers and never encountered any issues.
