Man I was busy all week including Saturday and had planned on working up some sub loads and shooting Sunday. Well the weatherman had a different idea and it was a crappy day with a cold rain non stop turning into snow and blowing wind. So, I went to the barn and built a shooting bench.
While I was looking out the door toward my targets I decided to cut a small door into the siding on the second floor and make an almost indoor range. I used piano hinge and a bolt lock to hold it closed when I'm finished shooting. I don't know why I didn't think of this before as so many opportunities have been spoiled by bad weather. Best of all you don't have to run out and change targets when you use steel plates.

Nice! You might want to take an old mattress cover like the egg-carton type, cut a hole in it, and put it around the hole in the wall you shoot through...it should help soften the concussion of unsuppressed shots, and even higher calibers...

Nice! And easy to pick up your brass too!
Re: Nasty Boring Weather.....so
Thanks for the ideas!
Sunday I was working on sub sonic 30 06 loads with the can protruding out the door and it was really quiet. I'm glad I put it on the second floor so I don't have to worry about something or somebody walking in front of me, I have a great field of view.

Here you go although not very good it was rain turning to snow when I took these pics. There are two targets a 12" round AR500 plate and a full scale IDPA / IPSC 3/8" X 18" X 30" AR500 steel target on the left side at the edge of the woods. As luck would have it is exactly 100 yds from the barn to the edge of the woods.Hardrockshot wrote:I like that. Now, give us a photo of what is out the window.................
