While theorizing my reloading sequence for the cartridge, I realized that I don't have the H2O/Water volume for the case and it is require for load simulation.
Since I still don't have an access to the cases, I wonder if anyone could take a measurement and share with us.
Thanks.

Re: 300 Wilson Ham’r
I know this is an old thread but my response is to the guy tearing necks off while converting .223 brass. I have been converting the .223 brass for the ham’r and this is what works for me. I tumble the raw brass, anneal the neck/shoulder, spray down the cases with Hornady case lube, lightly is fine and run them through my rcbs sizer. If I do this I get maybe 2 split necks out of 100, none tear off at all. Then trim to size and load. Very very simple and easy. Federal brass works the best, Winchester brass seems hit or miss almost all failed cases were Winchester, 95% of the federal cases I ran and didn’t anneal didn’t even split, some had been run over by a truck too, lol.
I think the issue may be with the lee die, I use the heck out of them but in this instance the rcbs dies seem much better, the expander is MUCH better with a special taper and knurled ball. I have less failures than when I convert .22 hornet to .17 hornet.

Re: 300 Wilson Ham’r
i haven't tried to convert any 223 in a while. i have enough hamr brass to last a long time... if i don't over do it, lol. i use the rcbs die now. the lee was either a pos or i didn't use it correctly. the decapping stem design on the lee didn't work for me at all. i don't have an annealer and i don't really like reloading that much, so that's more work than i'm willing to put in. if i have to try it again, i'll see if i have federal brass.
sometimes i get confused which hunts i've already put in a music vid, so there may be some repetition. and somehow i guess i skipped the hunt in the bottom link, but i'll post it here because it was that good!!

Re: 300 Wilson Ham’r
I am converting from LC brass (years 18-20) and so far my success rate with LEE die is 98%+.
Looks like chamfering the brass before sizing helps. During first couple 100s of cases I had ~3% split shoulders but once I started to chamfer I had only 1% or 2%. In fact, since forming of 300ha'r doesn't "grow" the case length you can trim the cases before sizing.
Also, I form from cases that went through wet tumbler with steel pins and I use pure Lanolin as lubricant.
Fun fact, If the case fails conversion to 300Ham'r, it is still usable for 300blk
P.S.
Be warned, (at least for me) first firing of freshly converted cases causes severe gas blowback. After 50 rounds (suppressed) the chamber was dirty enough to cause cartridge seating/extraction issues.

Re: 300 Wilson Ham’r
i don't particularly like handloading and converting brass is even less desirable. ham'r brass is cheap. here are some more kills.

Re: 300 Wilson Ham’r
I have gobs of .223 brass, so since it’s free it’s worth the effort. I have to say the brass seems to last forever once converted.
Now I just cut the raw .223 down, chamfer it, size it, do the final trim, done. It doesn’t need to be fire formed to be accurate either, plus they hold my favorite load of 27 gr of CFE blk under a 125 tnt. Super accurate load. All three of my ham’r s shoot sub 1” with that load. Wilsons 16” le profile Barrel seems especially accurate.
