"Extra-capacity" mags for 300 Blk

Post by MMA10mm »

So more and more companies are making 300 Blk specific magazines which have the forward ribs modified to allow the wider subsonic bullet noses to stack nicely. And we all know standard 5.56 magazines work fairly to really well with most light bullet (<155gr) loads which have shorter OALL.

BUT, has anyone seen or used any "extra-capacity" (50-200rd) magazine with their blackout?? I'm not worried about subsonic loads. I'm just wondering if any of the 5.56 drums or coffin-style (Sure-Fire 60 & 100 round) mags work with supersonic Blackout rounds??

I have a Surefire mag, 60 rounds. Works fine with supers, haven't tried subs

Thanks, that was my first thought of a good, functional option, but I wasn't sure about the mag spring being strong enough. Good to hear it works.

I'm wondering if nobody else has spotted this question because it is not in a "busy" sub-forum?

Anyone?

Bueller?

If you are loading with 220 grain projectiles you would just about double the weight over 223 rounds. Just sayin'

Indeed. I don't see this as a good application for subsonics, and not just the weight issue. I just don't see a reason for "extra-capacity" using a suppressor...

I'd really prefer it for range plinking, which I do with 147s at 1650-1750fps. Still heavy ammo, but I'd think workable... But no imput other than withoutremorse...
