1.790" for the load I gave.

I've not grouped them but they'll hit 8" gong @ 50yd every time.

Blancs3030 wrote: Sun Apr 08, 2018 2:04 pm Hey guys I've been scrolling through the pages. This is what I have and what I'm looking for.

I have a American ranch in 300 blk. 16 inch with a Griffin armament Optimus. Shooting NOE 235 grain SP and a NOE 235 gr HP, both hi tek coated and ww for the most part. I was using unique 5.5 gr that averaged 960 fps. Super quiet, but not very accurate. Usually 3 to 4 moa with flyers, no keyholing and its sd and ES were always great, don't know why it isn't accurate . I've now laddered imr 4227 using about 9.2 gr I think running 1020 fps with fantastic accuracy. SP are sub MOA and HP are 1 to 1.5 MOA, but a little louder than the unique.

I'm looking for the quietness of unique and the accuracy of Imr 4227. Seen people talk about red dot, could this be it, what kind of accuracy are yall getting with it? I've tried, imr 4198, h110, Lil gun as well, mainly for my gas gun, so I know they would work but not as quiet. Any help would be appreciated
No posts in almost 2 years ? Anyway, thank you all for compiling and posting all this helpful info.
I also have a RA bolt gun so no need to cycle. Interested in subs , 90-110 gr quiet, light loads 900-1000 FPS , plinking and anything under 60yds .
I have TB ,4227 and 1680 . Don't have any unique. i have 85,90,110gr and some 0.312" 60gr projectiles resized to .309.
This thread was exactly what I was looking for.

Any more tried and true recipes since the last post in April 2017 ? i.e best combination of quietest and accuracy for light projectiles
Thanks all, I appreciate it.
If you look at the other sticky in the handloading section, there’s a thread dedicated to light weight subs in non semi auto platforms.

I have the following powders on hand which I've used for testing 300 Blackout loads in 8.5" 1:7 and 10.5" 1:8 pistol barrel ARs.
IMR 4227, VV110, VV120, IMR 4198, CFE-BLK, H110, A1680
I've loaded a variety of projectiles 110gr FMJ RN (30-30 bullets), 120gr Powerbond RN, 150gr Hornady Interbond, 150gr Hornady FMJBT, 155gr Hornady HPBT, and 220gr Lapua Scenar-L (almost always tumble).

I also have an unopened bottle of N130 that I ordered by accident...intended to buy N120 and N110, and went down instead of up.

I saw very old references to other folks attempting N130 (2012/2013), but nothing back indicating it was successful. I'm looking for clarification whether it would work for the 110gr/120gr projectiles.

According to current Sierra data they list N130 powder burn above H 4198 and IMR 4198, which I haven't seen this order in other burn rate charts
https://www.sierrabullets.com/reload-ba ... ing-rates/

I edited the chart for easy listing of the common names.
Vihtavuori N120
IMR-4227
AA-5744
H4227
Vihtavuori N130
AA-1680
Norma 200
Vihtavuori N133
H4198
IMR 4198

Thoughts? Any starting point for VV N130? Or should I attempt to trade this somehow? I only load 300 Blackout, with an intent to load 458 SOCOM if I ever find a place to shoot it.

I was looking to use Accurate 1680 on 150 Grain Super - problem is data is for 16" barrel and I am running 8.5. Does this make difference?

I’ve been using 17.3gr enforcer, and 16gr 2400 for these for about 2150fps from my mini 14

No. Might not get quite the velocity, but that’s less of an issue with 300BO than other calibers. I have an 8.5” and an 18” Wilson barrel.

13.8grs AA#9 is 1766 out of shorty and 1919 out of 18”. I didn’t find 1680 to give the best results. A close to max charge of 4227, or the 13.8 of AA#9 were the winners.

I’ve found this is kind of optimal velocity for 150gr’s. So 16” you should be high 1800’s to around 1900.

The other day as I was sitting in my reloading room I started looking at all the powder I had on hand and low and behold there sat 10 cans of Win 680 that I bought back in the 1980,s. I was using it for my .30 Herrett but got to looking at some of my older reloading manuals and got to comparing it to Accurate 1680. The 680 was only 2 behind the 1680 in burn rate and they are both ball powder. So I thought why not. Loaded up 10 cases with 15.4 grs. with a Hornady 150.0 gr SP and they shot really well, cycled great, and grouped really good at 100 yards. I've got 10 lbs. of this and don't shoot the .30 Herrett much anymore. I can probably go up to about 16 or 17 grs. Only getting 1550 fps thru my chronograph. With CFE Blk I am getting 1730 using 19.4 grs.

I have been reading this tread and I haven't seen Win244 anywhere. I've been running it with great success in my Ruger American Ranch here is my data.
5.8 gr of Win244
Starline 300blk brass
WSR #41
190GR SMK
1065fps average velocity
14.5 SD
6gr gave me near 1100fps

Win 244 might not have the gas to run an AR?
