Are you guys using N110 in an AR? I cannot get it to lock the bolt back with a subsonic charge. It was my go to powder for 300 Whisper before I got into AR/M16's in 300 Blackout. 1680 is the only thing that has been consistent for me.

I need to try some 5744 I guess.

I'm sorry, I don't have enough experience with 1680 to make a comparison.

Mind sharing some loading data? :P
Sure, my log is out in the shop so I'll have to get it to you in a bit.
tagging this for updates. Would appreciate you posting your 5744 data, thx.

Hello win70, I use Vhit N110 for my 150-168 grain supers and N120 for my 178grain A-max Subsonic loads. Yes Vihtavuori burns clean in both loadings.

OK, finally remembered to bring in my log. My barrel is a M1S cut down to 10 inches 1:8 twist. 10.4 grains was getting me 1010 feet per second at the muzzle.

Thanks for the data Rocker. Just to confirm, you are using a 220gr bullet.

I am using 8.5 grains of IMR 4227 under a Hornady 208 A-Max at about 2.2 inches in my 10.3 inch Delta Company upper and 8.7 grains in my 16 inch Remington 700. Both of these loads are running right at 1080 fps. This seems to be the sweet spot for velocity and accuracy for me in both guns. I can't say enough good things about Aaron and Delta Company Arms. Aaron is who turned me onto the 4227, among many other pointers.

I have three different sub loads that i have worked up using the Hornady 225 gr SPBT bullet for my bolt action Rem 7.

Accurate 1680, 11.2 gr, Rem 7 1/2, 2.26 COL, 1024 fps avg, 38 fps spread
Hodgdon H4895, 14.0 gr, Rem 7 1/2, 2.26 COL, 1007 fps avg, 52 fps spread (compressed load)
VihtaVuori N110, 9.0 gr, Rem 7 1/2, 2.26 COL, 1051 fps avg, 22 fps spread

Note that all three loads are loaded to 2.26" COL and likely will not feed thru AR mags. Also, i have illiminated H4895 and A1680 for use in my bolt gun as they produce considerably more smoke thru the suppressor. H4895 being by far the worst, to the point of obscuring the target immidiatly after the shot for a seccond or so.

VihtaVuori N110 seems to be the one for bolt gun subs. Accuracy is great, report volume thru the can seems better (less) than the other powders and it seems to burn really clean. Down side is that it is hidiously expensive here in comparison... $48 per fucking pound! what the hell, is there gold dust in that shit?!

dont bother trying Alliant Unique (spectacular fail) and i also tried and illiminated IMR 4198 and Alliant Reloader 7, but your results with those two may differ. i just felt that VVN110 was so damn good that why use the others that were not quite as good.

oh, also tried H110 and it was working great until the temps here got down into the uper 30's... then i started getting big velocity swings. probably a powder that is better suited to warm climates?
