Can't find the 'ideal twist' chart.

Post by Flatliner »

I've been really busy with work but have the itch for another build. Thinking I will build an XM177 clone to put on the NFA converted SP1.

I saw a chart for stabilization by bullet wt here at some point but can't seem to find it.

Leaning toward the best compromise between 125 Speers for super and 190 SubX for subs. 10.5" barrel, probably no moderator though a Form1 wouldn't be super challenging to do.

Does anyone have that reference chart saved?

If you’re looking for a twist calculator, this one from JBM is a bit more helpful. Note the drop down choice for bullet lengths. Most popular bullets are listed, that way you can get an idea of stability without buying them.

Depending on your goals, a 1/10 is fine for bullets up to the length of a 208 AMax. Then it depends on bullet shape. Remember that length is mostly what determines stability.
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.
