190 sub-x same as 190?
Hey thanks for reading--- can I reload the 190gr sub-x bullets using the Hornady reloading guide for 190gr bullets as a rough starting point? I just want to confirm that the maximum loads shown for 190 sub-x are just for keeping the bullet subsonic...
Re: 190 sub-x same as 190?
My electronic Hornady reloading guide shows 190’s at super speeds only 1100-1300fps. Lists the typical powders. IMR 4227, H110, 296, Lil Gun etc. No subsonic load data though.
Then it lists the 190 Sub-X and I was surprised at the powders. None of the typical characters were listed. Instead it lists H4198, CFE BLK, A5744, A2200, A1680
I bought some Sub-X 190’s and figured I’d just use my 190 SMK load as a starter. 9.5gr IMR4227 out of a 16” Model 7 hits the magic 1050fps.
Not to give out all of Hornady’s load data, but I might also try 11gr of H4198.

H4198 is what I've used with the sub Xs. 12.1 gr at 2.09 OAL gets me 1035 fps out of a 6.5" barrel.
