Does anyone have info or links to resizing 0.312" 32 acp bullets down to 0.309 ...for light load subs ?
I saw or read a post about it. Darned if i can find it now. Searched in this forum and searched from google
multiple ways , ie "32 312 309 resize 300 blk aac 300blktalk " Cant find it anywhere.
I reloaded some 90g XTP sub loads and i was concerned about "bullet jump" and short C.O.A.L but it seems
multiple people are doing it with 1.67"-1.8 C.O.A.L in 90-110gr sub loads .
Was curious if this could work with resizing 32 acp .
I even saw a video where a guy was resizing OO buckshot to 0.308" , there was hardly anything even sticking out of the case !
If anyone has any experience with this or has links to posts/videos or would just like to share their thoughts on this, please do so.
300BLK is a bolt gun . Also have a 30-06 , 223 , 22-250 and 10/22 . I got the 300BLK for just very short range plinking and maybe small pests.
I have a Lee 0.309 resizing die. I have Trail Boss . Within reason I'm ok with all the accuracy shortcomings of light, sub loads .
Thanks in advance !

I had thought about using those bullets but there are so many .308/.309 options out there I just put it to bed. Some of the cheaper options I use are plated 110gr .30 carbine bullets and my "standard" sub load of 150gr plated FP 30-30 bullet with 4gr of Unique at 2.00 COAL which is very accurate.Cannonsville69 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 6:04 pm Does anyone have info or links to resizing 0.312" 32 acp bullets down to 0.309 ...for light load subs ?

Yessir , you forwarded that info to me earlier. Thanks much !Steve Urquell wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 8:02 pmI had thought about using those bullets but there are so many .308/.309 options out there I just put it to bed. Yeah i was just curious about the 60 gr projectiles. Being so light, the lower charge would be even less loud.
Just seems like it would be a very short COL ...i'm not sure anything would even be seating the rifling ???

Just push the lubed bullets through the lee sizing die.
I resized many 310/312 bullets out of necessity during shortages. Now days those 310/312 bullets are usually more expensive than just buying proper 308 diameter ones.

Re: Resizing 32 cal 312 to 309 ?
Hello Sir, thanks for responding ! I should have been more specific. I have the resizing die, i resized them but my concern is that there is hardly anything sticking out of the case, much less than when i loaded 90gr XTP with a COAL of 1.7". I was concerned whether bullet jump would be a problem. Have you resized 60gr 32cal down to 308 ...and fired them ? What C.O.A.L did they come out to ? I started to do one but stopped when i realized how short it would be. Thanks much !Cannonsville69 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 6:04 pm

What potential problems do you envision?
Work up a load and see what happens.

Re: Resizing 32 cal 312 to 309 ?
With a resized 32 acp, the C.O.A.L would much shorter than anything i've seen , even with the short 90gr XTP the coal is 1.68-1.7" .
idk , bullet jump problems ? I was told by a friend who reloads that this is too short and i'll have bullet jump problems.
If you have done this, What C.O.A.L did you use ?
Thanks
Re: Resizing 32 cal 312 to 309 ?
The only real problems you may have with a super short round is feeding and some potential accuracy issues. You can solve the one by single feeding, you'll have to play around with the load a bit for accuracy. BTW, I use the 309 xtps like steve. I have earholed cottontail rabbits at 50 and 60 yards. I use Trail Boss.

32-20 cowboy or original revolver load data.
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

I use the 100gr .32 acp XTP and 4.2 gr trail boss for squirrel out of my model 7. I can easily hit them at 50 yds.
