I know I've seen load data listing 410 as a powder choice. Or maybe it was Lil' gun.

I have not found any verified data other than .410 loads. Accurate 4100 is common, maybe that's what your thinking?.John A. wrote:I know I've seen load data listing 410 as a powder choice. Or maybe it was Lil' gun.

410 is next up the chart from 2400 and below Steel. One concern is that looking at .410 shotshell data and comparing it to 300 MP, 410 uses 25% less powder to get the same velocity, while producing 30% more pressure in the chamber.
So I have a higher pressure powder, confined to a smaller chamber and bore, concentrating more pressure over a smaller surface area.
If load data has 11/16 ounces (300 grains) of shot over 13.5 grains of powder producing 12,600 psi in a smooth bore.
Data for Lil'gun for the same load uses one grain less powder....... What could go wrong using Lil'gun data for a starting load.

8-8.5 for subs
18.5 for supers
High density loads with little, to no compression

Need more info on the subs. bullet and col and velocity for example. I assume about the same as loading the same bullets with my normal powder, but thought I'd ask.
