5.5" ballistics
I am looking at the Sig Rattler. Anyone have terminal ballistic info on 300blk out of a 5.5" barrel?
Re: 5.5" ballistics
Not 5.5”, but I have chronographed a 6” barrel with Barnes 110gr Blacktips and Maker 85gr T-Rex, both with my 762-SDN-6
Barnes 110gr. 1968fps
Maker 85gr. 2223fps
This puts the Barnes expanding out to about 275, Zeroed at 50yds it is about 27 inches low at 275.
I don’t know the Maker’s M.E.V. but it stays above 1300fps (the Barnes’ M.E.V.) out past 275 where it would be about 21” low.
In short, with proper bullets, it should prove satisfactory within the range at which you’d expect to be shooting a 5.5” barrel. You’ll just have to be able to accurately range your target and know your come-ups.

In short, with proper bullets, it should prove satisfactory out well past 100yds. You’d just have to know your come-ups and accurately range the target.

Thanks for the info
Re: 5.5" ballistics
Drop only depends on BC and fps. Put into anybody's ballistic calculator. Get drop and energy at whatever distance.
