Am I under-gassed

Post by jtcarm »

Howdy.

Just built my second AR, a 300 BO pistol, Faxon 7.5" Gunner profile barrel, Strike Industries Enhanced Low-Profile gas block.

I'm not getting a lock on the last round.

I've tried three different magazine types. The only ammo (as it's very hard to find) has been Remington 110 super and some handloads I've tried 15 grains 4227 with 150 grain Speer hot-cor bullet. No lock with either.

Thanks!

is your gas port lined up correctly?

what buffer/spring are you using?

so th estandard for pistols (and pistol gas barrels) is a H2 buffer, not a carbine.

so your buffer is too light to begin with. its entirely possible that you're getting bolt bounce and overrunning the carrier speed. especially if the gun is otherwise operating normally.

So a 4.8 oz buffer would probably do the trick?

it should, again if its otherwise operating normal and just not getting BHO

I installed the H2 buffer.

Now with the Remington 110 factory ammo, I get BHO.

Handloads of 14.5 grains IMR 4227 with a Speer 150 aren't even picking up the next round from the magazine.
That's a starting load, but, damn!
