Can someone tell me which way to go?
Can't decide between a regular M16 style BCG or low mass...
Just trying to make it cycle reliably.
Shooting suppressed almost 100% of the time.
Barrel specs:
Caliber - 300 Blackout
Length- 12.5"
Gas Length- Pistol
Gas Block OD- .750+-.001
Twist Rate - 1:7
Maker - Green Mountain
Any tips or experiences are welcome smile

Are you having issues or just looking for advice for a new build?
If you have cycling issues with your setup, it's NOT because you need a lightweight BCG.

Just looking for advice on a new build.
Already bought the barrel so just trying to build a system around it.
Just now learning about "dwell time" and that threw me for a loop.
Figure with a pistol gas length and 12.5" barrel, suppressed, it should have enough gas to cycle reliably, no?

I'm not knowledgeable enough to really answer the question, but might it make more sense to go with a lighter buffer if overall mass is suspected to be significant? It's probably cheaper to change the buffer if some adjustment is needed than changing out the BCG.

If all you ever intend to shoot is subs, you might get away with a light weight BCG, if you will shoot supers, you can get in trouble.
The system was designed to use a Full auto carrier and an H2 buffer with pistol gas. It’s still over gassed for the most part with that much weight. Unless you start cutting off the gas, going lighter will only cause problems with supers.

300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

Re: Lightweight BCG for a 300 blackout pistol?
I have a lightweight BCG for a build that shoots lightweight subs only. 115-135 grain bullets for the most part. With a suppressor, its not actually necessary even for that build to use a lightweight BCG. That's because I"m still using a carbine buffer. So really, I could have used a lighter buffer instead of the lighter BCG. That would have been cheaper and left me with a standard BCG which would be more versatile for other applications.
So, I would recommend that you keep the standard weight BCG and use a lighter buffer if need be. That would give you more options for less cost.

My 10" unsuppressed uses carbine parts and pistol gas. no problem with 170gr @ 1200 or 145gr @ 1800 fps. Not into subs.
