large volume 300 blk cans - DB @ the ear
It's been a while since I've been on here. Most of my posts have always been about achieving maximum suppression (DB @the ear). I have severely damaged ears, 24 hr a day tinnitus, severe hearing sensitivity and hearing loss. I now spend most of my days shooting a .22 bolt gun with a dead air mask an...

Re: Which should I choose? BCM 300 blk barrel length upper
[quote If I wanted to put something together for commercial ammo to be as quiet as possible, it would be 10”+ with carbine gas length and adjustable gas block. This will give the powder more time to burn and reduce the internal pressures as much as possible before the bullet exits and the port opens...

Which should I choose? BCM 300 blk barrel length upper
I am ready to buy a sbr 300 blk upper. I tend to like BCM and plan on getting either a 9 inch or 12.5 inch upper they offer. I will be running an Omega suppressor, as that is my only .30 cal can. I have drove myself crazy doing research on barrel length and its impact on quietness. The overall conse...

Re: badly damaged ears, I need help for quietest setup
[quote="RWA007"]Ah...Tinnitus. Started out adult life as a mechanic and used to come home each day with my ears ringing from all the typical noises found in a shop. I wore earmuffs at the range when I shot my hunting rifle back then, but out in the field, even when just shooting at targets...

Re: badly damaged ears, I need help for quietest setup
Interesting question and one I haven't thought about previously. With subsonic 300 BLK, longer barrels provide additional time for the powder to burn and thus can result in higher velocity. (Just like 5.56.) The difference is that you are trying to hit a specific velocity window and are not going f...

Re: badly damaged ears, I need help for quietest setup
You probably know this already. Use ear plugs and ear muffs of at least 30 db reduction at the same time. Using both has help me avoid tinitis after years of dove hunting and 30 cal rifles without hearing protection. Reloading subs using a chronograph will get you where you want to be. Maybe this t...

badly damaged ears, I need help for quietest setup
Shooting has severely taken a toll on my ears. I have 24 hour a day severe ringing for years and now have severe sound sensitivity. I am a long time user of 5.56 AR's, but that has come to a screeching halt. Even with the best in ear plugs and earmuffs, I struggle to shoot. I've been researching all...
