Re: New 300BLK Build!
I didn't really like the long handguards at first but now I love 'em. They do grow on you and also let you run the rifle from way up front which I'm getting fond of.

Re: Twist Rate
I don't think faster twist makes bullets more accurate. Just more stable. They are not one and the same - as while I have seen unstable bullets, I have not seen that instability make larger groups. Also there is evidence that higher RPMs make bullets open up easier. And the often-cited downside of ...

Re: Twist Rate
Is that to optimize accuracy with heavy subsonics, or in everything in general. I'm a light bullet, high velocity guy and built my 300 for hunting with the light 110gr TTSX.300Blk wrote:No. I would rather have 1/7.
Thanks for your insight!

Re: Federal Ammo...good news
I'm not a subsonic shooter, at least not yet, but am encouraged that another major company is loading the BLK. Only makes the round stronger and will help its long-term viability. I'd like to see a 110 gr or 125 gr Tactical Bonded like their LE223T3 load. That would be a superb LE/Mil round. I feel...

Re: Need advice on bullet choice for deer hunting!!
Where on the deer did the bullets hit? Some hits just don't give much blood. A low chest heart/lung shot on the other hand....
You have a good bullet, so I doubt that is too much of the problem.

Re: Minimum Barrel Length
Ahah! I did a bit more looking. The Black Tipped Tac-TX is the 300BLK specific round while the blue tipped TTSX is the regular 110gr tipped TSX. Did you see the light bulb come on over my head? Thanks again! I was under the impression that the 110black tipped was the same as the 110 gr TTSX. Just wh...

Re: Minimum Barrel Length
I was under the impression that the 110black tipped was the same as the 110 gr TTSX. Just when I thought I had things figured out.....! What is the difference? Thanks! Throw a can on the end of a short 300BLK AR, feed it some 110gr TTSXs and I think you have an ideal patrol carbine. Can anyone...

Re: Minimum Barrel Length
rjacobs and KingIX,
Thanks. I'm kind of new to the 300BLK thing but have lots of experience from my police days with the 5.56. It is a learning curve, but I appreciate the insight from those with experience.

Re: 125 grain SST vs bushytail
I can almost smell the tenderloins on the grill.
Nice shot. I agree with the other about head shots being great (taught them to the guys on the department ) , but I still make shots like yours on the deer. Don't know why, but I like a good shot to the boiler room.
Bon appetit!
