I've done mercy shots before, too. Got a yearling that way a year ago. It's hard to watch them suffer and the yearling sure was tender.
Friday regular deer season opens here in Michigan, hopefully some pictures will ensue shortly!

Re: subs and supers have different impact points left and ri
What was explained to me once was that any slower bullet is in the barrel longer so it will be more impacted with recoil, both the vertical lift of the barrel and the horizontal movement if the recoil impulse is not straight up. Don't know if it is true, but it certainly sounds plausible. Maybe Myth...

Re: Cold Bore Shot Needs Help
You fellows most all live where it's warm,it's a blistery 25 degree's and way too windy (30-40 mph gust's) here today. I do alot of cold weather shooting, like 1/2 the year.I think shooting at around the time you hunt is a big help. The temp. thing will ger you the other way too, high pressure sign's ...

Re: Cold Bore Shot Needs Help
Ok thanks for the input guys, I think I'm going to start with a barrel swap and see where that takes me. I've kinda been wanting something a little longer anyway, you guys have any suggestions on s good barrel? Not looking to break the bank with something crazy but don't mind spending on quality. T...

Re: barrel question
As for the barrel issue, I haven't shot the Stoners but have Wilsons on both my 5.56 and 300BLK. I've shot .75 moa with the 5.56 and 1.5 moa with the BLK. The difference between rifles is that the 5.56's .75 moa groups were shot with a 9x scope and the BLK has only 4x. With better glass, I expect th...

Re: Finally got my M&P15 300 Whisper
Hey Truenorth, Glad you finally got an M&P 300. I've not seen a S&W M&P15 in 300 yet at my shop and we have one of the best, if not the best, AR selection in Michigan. We just got a few M&P10s, but no 300s. Next, you need a suppressor! I want to sell my 308 Bushmaster and get a suppr...

Re: new revelation 6.8 is better than 300 blackout shooting
I have piles of 6.8 guns and then discovered 300BLK. You have to fill the cases of the 6.8 cartridge, when loading 14-15gr of powder to shoot subs, with oatmeal or soap or whatnot ....total PITA. I'm. Going to sell my 12.5" Noveske barrel and drop a 300 shorty in that pistol I think. ...but if...

Re: 7.62x40 wt......why?
I was intrigued by the WT load but, as I don't yet handload, decided the more readily available BLK was the way to go. There was more oomph from the WT but really it wasn't that much.
If the WT ever becomes readily available it might gain some momentum but for now I see it as kind of a novelty.

I agree with attila. Given the options, go with 50.
