The wait is OVER!! OSS Helix QD Is Here

I signed/submitted my trust paperwork back in May 2018, the week before Mother's Day and Feb 20 2019 I finally get the call that my tax stamp is in. Wow!! Anyway, I took it to an indoor range where they top out at 556/300 BLK, so not the best way to judge sound levels, but I'm impressed. I shot both...

Re: Range Report - 10.5" with AAC 762 SDN

Why the adjustable gas block for a 300 BO shooting subs? Wouldn't a normal non-adjustable work just as well? My only 300 BO is a 16" barrel with a carbine length gas system, so I've got no experience with pistol length gas systems.

Thanks for the education!

Re: Fort Daniel Barrel

Don't know that barrel maker, but I've used other el cheapo barrels before with decent results. I'd recommend using a set of go/no-go gauges to check headspace on the barrel (a good idea regardless of the maker). You can rent them if you don't want to buy.

Re: Ok I hate h110

My Lyman came with a plastic adaptor which constricts the powder flow and pretty much eliminated the issues you describe. I also use a plastic powder pan with a built-in funnel to dump the powder directly into the primed brass. Hope that helps.

Re: Wrapping up my process - Dillon XL650 die sanity check

Yes, way, way too many steps. I have a 650XL and have loaded about 1k rounds of 300 BO so far. Step 1: Buy 5.56 brass that's been cut, formed, primers punched and primer pockets swagged already, and cleaned/trimmed and ready to go (Brass Boys and others sell it for about a $20/thousand pieces upchar...

Re: Feeding issue with factory supers

Not sure I'd bother with an adjustable GB on a 300 Blackout. I can't recall anyone here ever saying they needed to throttle back on the gas system because they had too much pressure/gas volume! I recommend saving the money for a 308 AR build (or some other build). My first build was a piston system....

Re: Melonited gas tubes.....something to watch for.

Cleaning every gas tube before installation is a good idea. There have been a few over the years where manufacturing debris has kept guns from running. Dumb question here, but how do you clean the inside of the gas tube? A long pipe cleaner? Leave it to me to be the lowest common denominator! Thanks!

Re: Best optics for 300 BLK

Leupold's Mark AR Mod 1 in 1.5x4 is a pretty good scope. I went with the Firedot-G SPR reticle. The turrets are set up for a 5.56 load, but if you really want to dial in the elevation, you can get custom turrets from Leupold for about $60 (I'll spring for a set once I get a load dialed in for the Ba...

Re: I need to rant...

Any one else have similar experiences at there ranges?[/quote] Oh yeah, I was shooting my grandpa's pump action Rem 760 in 30-06 one time at a range in CA. I was working with a new hand load that was delivering right around 1 MOA. The guy next to me was shooting his 270 and explaining why he would n...

Re: I've been cheating on you all, and I'm not sorry.

308 is the 300blk's older sister.... shame on you  I've been contemplating cheating in that manner myself. Yeah, me too! I have a modulus AR-10 jig with lower coming, as well as an upper an match barrel. Still need to source a BCG, trigger (with a flat shoe?), break, and furnature. Have a scop...
