Re: Why all the hate for the 300 BLK?
But on the flip'side we do not want people disappointed that their 10" BLK is not as powerful as a 30-30 in a rifle. Or think the bolt gun at 16" will be a 30-30 as well. They are close enough no soft target will notice If you really wanted the apples to apples use the same bullet in the s...

Re: factory Remington /AAC brass primer problem
i think you are onto the problem with the headspace deal, i had one round of remington sub click on me, my dad noticed a difference in the shoulder . it did fire on aboutthe third strike. The Wilson headspace gauge is the thing to have. I have to say all of the replacement brass I received from Rem...

Re: Another cycling issue question.
I would think A1680 would give more gas. I have a carbine length gas sys and have to run A1680 to pick up the next round with 208 + 220 gr bullets Carbine buffer .. also what FPS is the ammo loaded to? First i would change buffer Add lube Check load to get min of 975 fps I'll let you pistol lenght g...

Re: Why all the hate for the 300 BLK?
"I didn't say it did. For a bullet/powder that reaches the highest velocity for any given barrel length, the peak pressure for that load was reached within the first inch of bullet travel. So this means you cannot change to a faster powder simply because you are going to shoot it in a shorter b...

Re: General or Theoretical question on Sub-Sonics
I have a carbine gas system and it has worked perfect using supers or subs. I get subs to cycle as low as 875 fps without a suppressor so i dont feel like i am handicapped with it. Of course it wont cycle using lil gun or h110 but i dont care that i use two powders instead of one for everything. I ...

Re: General or Theoretical question on Sub-Sonics
John, Thank you very much. I found the LilGun thread started by Maryland in which you have a lot of your data. Thanks for condensing that thread above, with your synopsis. I can now see that my carbine gas system was not a great choice, but I wanted a barrel to get into the game to figure out if th...

Re: General or Theoretical question on Sub-Sonics
a heavier bullet needs slower powder H110, lil gun are good for supers up to 150, maybe 168 grains beyond that, A1680 burn rate powders work well This could be a huge debate. I agree to a point. But A1680 gets funky when compressed tightly. Case capacity with the big bullets is the issue especially...

Re: help me pick a 30 cal can
Read about how many baffle strikes on the net... now see how many were QD mounted. Look at the vidio of the QD can on the M1A that jumpes a tooth at every shot. The silencer has a white dot on the front of the can so you could see the can rotate as he fired. It had gone back to be fixed and still di...

Re: 220smk subsonic from p mags?
P-mags are a bit tighter so I have filed the ribs a tad on a few 20 round mags. This way I can run w/o seating deep or past the crimp groove. They still run 5.56 in my other rifle so no big deal. A bastard wood file and 10 minutes done. Just knock 20% off or so. The made for BLK bullets may not need...

Re: General or Theoretical question on Sub-Sonics
For a platform to run lilgun/296/110 a pistol length gas sys is needed. I have played with a lot of weights and powders. Bottom line A1680 makes the most gas (pressure at the port) than all others I have used. 5744, RL-7 & 1680. The ES stinks but the reliability is the best. Weights.. Playing wi...
