Re: Any 300 BLK barrels made with 1:10 twist?

My Rem 700 AAC is very clearly labeled 1:7, but the cleaning rod says 1:10. Prettier obvious it was not 1:7 when I bought it. That works out well for me as all my bullets are 100-115 grains. Shoots 200? grain Rem factory ammo respectably out to 50 yards, but I think that’s about the limit for those ...

Re: Remington 700 AAC-SD Heavy Barrel

Mine is marked 1:7, but is actually 1:10.
Shoots great with 100’s and 115’s.

Re: Handi-rifle: Off-center firing pin

Could it be a rimfire frame?
I have never seen one that far off.
I have never had to fire my Handi twice with any of my barrels. Don’t think that’s normal.

Re: Anyone shoot lead cast pills in their 300ACC?

I used recipes from the sticky thread about lightweight sub loads.
I ended up using 5 grains for 110 jacketed and 3.5 grains for 115 LRN and 110 LFP.
Load density was below 90% for the 5 grain load.

Re: Anyone shoot lead cast pills in their 300ACC?

Prolly no help for the OP, but I shoot mostly light cast bullets in my 700 BDL. (subs) Feeding can be iffy, but smoothing the feed lips greatly improved function with the typical 115 lrn. 100 grain flat points don’t feed at all. By contrast 110 grain jacketed spire points feed 100%. (my defensive bu...

Re: Small pistol primer instead of small rifle

I’m using Remington 5-1/2 primers in 300 BLK, ‘cause I can’t find small rifle primers. I keep my super load under 40 kpsi, 16 grains 4227 under a 110 varmageddon. The 5-1/2’s are well punched in my 700, but no problems. They flatten ever so slightly, no cratering or flow. They are definitely a littl...

Re: Things are looking up?

Haven't seen much from Alliant locally, but IMR and Hodgdon powder are starting to show up.
Found a bottle of 4227, unfortunately that was also the price (close).
No sign of rifle primers.

Re: Why do you like the 300BLK?

I like the 300BLK for it's efficiency and accuracy with subs. Been loading subs in other calibers for years, but it was always a bit of a compromise. 5 grains of Trail Boss fills the 300BLK case to the neck, and is magic with a 110 RN in my new-to-me 700 with a 1:10 twist. Superb accuracy and sounds...

Re: Anyone shooting subs in Bolt action?

Subs shooting very well out of my 1:10 Rem 700 ACC-SD.
110 grain SP + 5 grains Trail Boss.
No suppressor needed for that load.
