Re: Safe OAL for Berry's 110gr Bullets?
The base to ogive measurement works out to be similar when seating both bullets to the similar depth in the case. You end up with a shorter COAL for the round nose, and a longer jump. But they cycle just fine. They're not very accurate probably due to a number of factors. But they're generally fun a...

Re: Explanation for higher than expected velocity
125gr load is close to 100% fill, H110 gets funny there. Unless you are loading very long, you probably found the max load for your components. Primer is a very poor way of detecting over pressure. Measure dia at case head. I made a mistake and loaded 19gr H110, case looked like a belted one. Pisto...

Re: Explanation for higher than expected velocity
In theory, the data in a loading manual should be faster than an AR, closer to bolt action velocity. For all the reasons above. This is the entire reason I almost bought a 6mm ARC gas gun. Those velocity numbers that everyone's talking about were taken for 24" bolt guns. In the real world, the...

Re: Explanation for higher than expected velocity
I wouldn't really call 60 fps considerably faster. Temperature, neck pressure/crimp, seating depth, magnum primer, etc can all contribute that that. What did your extreme spread look like? You mentioned loading to COAL...if you have the equipment, I'd highly recommend loading to CBTO vs COAL, you'l...

Re: Explanation for higher than expected velocity
Good points. And I see no signs of high pressure. Primers look normal. The manuals do seem to vary a bit. I can find anything from a max load of 19.4 to 20.2 on the 110s, granted the COALs vary a bit. And as mentioned about H110/296, manuals like Nosler have a huge difference in the max loads for th...

Explanation for higher than expected velocity
So, I worked up a couple of different loads using the same rifle. Both loads were under published maximums. But both ended up producing velocities that were considerably higher than published/expected. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why and help me figure out if there is a safety...

Re: Hello from Texas
Thanks everyone. The idea/recommendation I got for subsonics with a can for indoor home defense is to avoid making those loud pops that usually happen otherwise when you pull the trigger since that will very negatively affect your (short term) hearing. Not to mention the long term hearing loss/dama...

Re: Hello from Texas
OK, another $.02 worth coming. You get it for free and it might be worth all of that price. I agree with ReadyAimDuck, sorta, with changes. Why a 16" barrel anyway? If you're contemplating a can use a barrel that the 300BLK was actually designed for, something in the 9"+ length and design...

Re: Hello from Texas
What makes you want to use subsonics supressed for home defense? Put a suppressor on a 16" barrel and walk around your house simulating what you would do in a defensive situation. If you're house is anything like mine you're going to realize real quick why I asked that question. In my opinion, ...
