Re: 500 yd range is now open and ready for fun!
Good shooting! That looks like a nice place. The furthest I can manage is 300 yards but one range has 600 yards. But only when there are lots of people there to run it; 600 yards is closed unless it's a match. No idea why that is other than rules. Maybe they had problems in the past? IDK. Turning ou...

Re: Hello from Texas
Not having all that much personal experience with different twist rates I trusted the folks here and my barrel maker (Ballistic Advantage) and if I remember correctly my barrel has a 1:7 twist that works fine with the 85 gr copper Makers and 200 grain poly coated cast subs. The 85s I push to 2000fps...

Re: MPBR with 110 Barnes for deer hunting?
I read an article 50+ years ago that is somewhat on subject. It discussed folks with large groups at distance being able to hit a target when someone able to shoot smaller groups could be unable to. Same come ups in both cases, just the wrong come ups. OK, it would be a lucky shot but the person wit...

Re: accuracy with sierra 125gn pro hunter
Why wouldn t you load that bullet in 300 blk if it s supposed to shoot anything from 100 to 230 grain in .308? With what bullets do you get good in .308? And yeah I started with max load according to their manual, because at lower speeds that bullet is not interesting for hunting use.. Figured it w...

Re: accuracy with sierra 125gn pro hunter
Lots of Americans using American English also use the same terminology. It's hellyweird that was the factor in twisting the words. That's just one of the reasons I call Hollywood hellyweird. If you contact Sierra they'll tell you the RPMs the bullets can handle and the velocity window they expand at...

Re: accuracy with sierra 125gn pro hunter
The reason I asked about velocity was to find the RPM of the bullet. If my math is correct it's about 160,000 rpm. I don't know how many RPM that bullet can take but it might be coming apart. Someone with more knowledge needs to address that 'cause I just don't know. But your question might all be f...

Re: accuracy with sierra 125gn pro hunter
What's the velocity? Actual measured would be best, but from the load manual is better than nothing (test barrel length?).
While you're typing, what's the actual load?

Re: Trouble with LabRadar
Yes, if you tell it to look for something above 1600fps it will ignore everything else, one never knows when a bird doing 1590fps could stray into the beam. That could be an issue with a load that straddles the fence*. It's sort of annoying that we need a decoder ring to set the velocity window when...

Re: Trouble with LabRadar
Yes, doppler is covered in the manual as being the second choice due to the distance where it get's picked up. Too, the smaller the bullet diameter the less area to reflect the signal so it's "lost" closer to the unit than a larger caliber, again, in the manual. The only reason I mention t...

Re: Trouble with LabRadar
I recently experienced that with subsonic rimfire out of a rifle length barrel. I didn't take the time to solve it but If I had I would have used the doppler trigger. Next time at the range it's going to count so I'll get it to work. My biggest issue is to remember to shut off the Bluetooth in the t...
