Re: Best and cleanest powder for reloading sub suppressed 245gr fpc

I am not an expert like Dellet and a few others but alignment of the hole in the barrel gas port and gas block is critical. I have read ways to check this here without taking the upper apart but do not remember. Might could do a "search" and find out. This alignment would be my first thing...

Re: Small pistol primer instead of small rifle

If snow stays around, I think I'll give it a try in my bolt gun. Snow splatters well behind a target, in this case a pine cone. Used CCI small pistol by mistake, then changed to CCI small rifle. Before we moved I bought a box of 10k in both small rifle and small pistol as I had to pack everything up...

Small pistol primer instead of small rifle

I was loading small pistol loads and loaded 24 subsonic 300 BO for plinking before I discovered the mistake. Any known risk? I'd rather shoot them out than pull that many for just shooting pine cones.

Re: Any recommendations for the big brother .308

I have a Rock River AR in 308. Accurate rifle but heavy compared to 5.56. For a lugging through the woods with a scope and legal in NC suppressor you need to have flat ground. Maybe eastern NC would be OK but not western NC where I live. Being young would help which I am not.

Proposed new military round

I was looking through one of my glossy gun magazines and saw a wright-up about this. It is a molded composite case 6.8 that operates at 65,000 psi. Interesting but I don't see anyway for hand-loading one of theses things.

making your own .22 hollow points

I have several thousand .22LRs. I can make a holder to hold a .22 LR and use my drill press to drill a small hole in the tip. I can use a stop block to keep the hole uniform and maybe my reloading powder scale to check before and after weight. No real purpose other that to see if it can done and exp...

Re: What happened to Leatherhead bullets??

Yuk!! Sold out. 10-12 week lead time.

Only problem I had with these was I had to size them down a bit with a Lee bullet resize kit to .309 using my RCBS single stage. I still have a couple hundred unloaded bullets but time to get on the order list.

What happened to Leatherhead bullets??

I bought bullets from them a couple years ago for reloading but cannot find them now. Any ideas what happened or reasonable substitutes for 30 cal bullets?

Re: Walmart. Shortage or political

I live in a rural area, foothills of the mountains of NC. All small towns. My wife gets Rx at this Walmart super store. They had a supply. maybe 20 boxes, of .22 LR Super X 100 year anniversary  in 300 round boxes. $40.18 a box. People were not lined up at the firearms counter.

case gauge

I don't think this topic has come up lately but is important to those just getting into handloading. I used a Wilson case gauge for several years. Then about 3 years ago someone here mentioned the slotted Sheridan Engineering case gauge. These are patented so you probably will have to get one direct...
