Re: 300 blackout subsonic bullet mold options?
Just to chime in here, I worked up a load with bullets cast from Lee's CTL312-160-2R mold, powder coated and sized to 0.311 over 9.1 grains of IMR4227, OAL 2.066", subsonic in a 10.5" barrel. Five of them went into a 1" group at 50 yards using a 1x, 3 MOA red dot for an optic. That sa...

Re: 175gr Sub X
I thought I'd throw in a few additional details about my own load development with this bullet. From a 10.5" barrel, 5.7 grains of IMR Red gave me velocities of 1026, 1048, and 1049 fps. OAL of 2.12" With the gas turned off, these were very quiet suppressed. Again from a 10.5" barrel,...

Sub-sonic hunting: hand-cycle or auto-cycle the action?
Hey folks, It's been a while since I've posted. Since the last time I did I got a can, so I've been doing some load development with the Hornady 175 gr Sub-Xs (probably would have gone with the Maker Rex 200s, but they've been out of stock on the non-expanding load-dev bullets and I got impatient. P...

RCBS 7.62-130-SPL bullet mold for sale, $55 shipped
I have very lightly used 2-cavity RCBS bullet mold that throws the 130 grain 7.62mm spitzer bullet. I have cast perhaps 100 bullets with this mold and they are very nice, but I've decided to go a different direction. I've kept this mold oiled and there's no rust. Does not come with handles, just the...

Re: Max Effective Range of Common 300 BLK Projectiles
Would love to see the Speer Gold Dot 150 gr BLK (308150BLKGDB) added. Expands down below 1400 fps, as documented in this thread:

Re: 2018 Hunting results
Yes, Pro-Hunter is correct (I've updated my posting.) Thanks for the correction! And yes, I am still cutting off the tips. Once I shoot through my inventory I'll switch out to some other bullet (bought these during the bullet drought.) But so far I'm six deer for six shots with the Pro-Hunter, so I ...

Re: 2018 Hunting results
I got this medium sized doe on opening morning. There were two together and I hoped to have the second one hang around for my youngest daughter to shoot, so shot this one in the neck at about 40 yards with a Sierra 125 gr Pro-Hunter over 18 gr of IMR4227. She was DRT and her companion did indeed han...

Re: 2017 Deer Hunting Results - Post Pics Here!
^^ Sweet! Stalking to 3m -- that's incredible. In answer to the question above, barrel length is 16" with the Kies Blastmaster linear compensator. I don't know if that contributed to these deer not spooking so badly at the shots and offering me follow-ups, but it certainly didn't hurt. These fi...

2017 Deer Hunting Results - Post Pics Here!
So I'm pretty early on this, but I thought I'd go ahead and start the 2017 deer hunting thread. I have been able to hunt past this state's normal hunting season by using agriculture damage tags. Within the past six weeks I've harvested five deer with five shots from my 300 Blackout. The load has bee...

Re: Modified Sierra ProHunter 125 gr SP for more aggressive expansion
I've updated the initial posting to clarify a few things. Cutting off the tip of the bullet drops about 3 grains. The top two bullets in the picture are the unmodified bullets, the bottom two are the bullets modified with no lead tip. So unmodified the bullets mushroomed pretty perfectly and retaine...
