Re: Magazines for 300blkout.....
What are the very best supersonic (I'm in NY, no cans) bullets and OAL for reloaders, in terms of feeding. 30 round GI mags are pretty much the norm in NY, since most other are post-ban here. Is the Barnes 110 gr TAC-TX and its crimp groove location considered optimal? The Sierra 125 SP look good pr...

Yes, aluminum cases are already at a high hardness state -- work-hardening from firing and resizing could make them dangerously brittle. Brass has the same issues, but starts a a lower hardness, and is more easily annealed.300Blk wrote:I don't see how you can reload aluminum safely. It fatigues and cracks.

We have come full circle
People forget that the inspiration for the AK-47 was the German Sturmgewehr 44, which was chambered for the 7.92x33, featuring a 125gr bullet at 2250fps. Sound familiar? This was a brilliant step down from the 30-06 and 8x57 military cartridges that dominated the field until then. I grew up in the 5...

Re: Why all the hate for the 300 BLK?
300 BLK prices are not artificially low. The ammunition costs less because it is very high in efficiency - smaller brass and less powder. Exactly right -- people love the big and magnum cases, but a full case uses less powder to get the same performance than a partially full case, and lack of the p...

Re: I think I finally hit the sweet spot..
Well ever since I put my 16" noveske barrel on my upper I have been fighting the inability to hold the bolt open on the last shot. I tried a couple different powders, multiple powder weights, stock buffer spring and buffer, etc. Well finally I think I have found the sweet spot. I ordered a new...

Mk116 scope mount question
I'm switching from an EoTech to a scope with fairly long eye relief on my Mk116, wonder whether it is better to use a standard Bobro mount, which might need to extend beyond the front of the receiver onto the top forend rail to get correct eye relief, or use the "extended" version of the B...

Re: Why all the hate for the 300 BLK?
Those who obsess on the 300AAC being somehow villainous forget that it is simply an easy choice for a 5.56 manufacturer to make: what can I do to increase sales of my product that will require changing only one part (the barrel), and will be supported by a wide variety of SAAMI-standard ammo from ma...

Re: UMC 115gr clone?
The big amo factories store load data as pressure/velocity rather than go by powder charge like reloaders do. This enables different powders to be used that are not controlled in the same way. I understand that cartridge companies use non-canister powders, and adjust their loads for each powder lot...
