Re: Dillon Precision Super 1050

I have used a Dillon 650 for about 13 years and then bought a Dillon SUper 1050 two years ago when I got into the 300 AAC Blackout. I had hand processed some brass and it was going to take a LONG time (using a RCBS power trimmer after rough cutting with a band saw). I then had to swage the primer po...

Re: 300 Blk Out Law Enforcement Use

I used to run a 11.5 556 upper with Hornady 75 gr TAP as the general thought was they would expand at lower velocities. Well that was true. While using my rifle in a shoot hosted by Winchester with my round I found that it fragmented. I don't recall the actual penetration, but it was near the minimu...

Re: 300 Blk Out Law Enforcement Use

I carry a 300 AAC Blackout as my patrol rifle. I have been recommending it to several Police Departments in my area. Back before crazy hit with the supply of firearms and ammunition I think it would have been a pretty sound decision. For smaller agencies the cost increase would have been minimal and...

Re: Magazines for 300blkout.....

use GI mags or lancer mags. stay away from pmags for 300blk - they are not reliable for 300blk feeding. I found my Pmags did not function well with handloads (125 gr, 147 gr, and 220 gr) so I decided since I could not spend range time with potential magazines I would be using in the real world (wor...

Re: Nifty tool for making 300 Brass

Here is a jig my father and I made. We made two actually. Each hole is made with two different drill bits to allow for a better grip on the case. I also cust the case just above the shoulder so there is not a lip to case the case to get stuck as I remove it from the jig. It does not take long to go ...

Re: Nice 300 BLK Father's Day cake:

I've been shooting my blackout all week and now camping with my family. I would love a cake like that. That is pretty neat.

Re: Patrol Rifle Class and my 300 AAC Blackout

Most of the questions evolved around ballistics to include penetration tests. They saw first hand the accuracy at the varying ranges, saw it function suppresses and unsuppressed with subsonics and supersonices, and saw/heard the effect of the suppressor. Needless to say there are now about 22 additi...

Re: Patrol Rifle Class and my 300 AAC Blackout

A few had heard about the round. The primary instructor is awaiting a 300 blk gun for testing and some ammunition. One of the assistant instructors had heard of it, but had not shot one (he has now). Two of the other participants heard of it, but never handled the round or rifle chambered in 300 blk...

Re: Patrol Rifle Class and my 300 AAC Blackout

Sorry I missed yesterday. I was late getting out and needed to clean my rifle, put together a written outline/report for a project, and do a little studying for the final day. I passed my written exam, my partner and I were successful in the presentation, and I passed my qualification (I screwed up ...

Re: Patrol Rifle Class and my 300 AAC Blackout

No question is dumb. Actually I did switch to right for about 2 years with my handgun for several reasons. I determined that someday, in my line of work, I may need the extra .5 second on the draw while seeking cover with just tad bit more accuracy. Qualifications were no problem, it was the real wo...
