Re: Cycling issues with subsonic load

Try removing the gas block and do a couple measurements. From the back edge of the gas block to the center of the gas hole. Then on the barrel from the stop to the center of the gas port hole. Some gas blocks are set up to allow for a handguard retainer and if it is not there the gas block could be ...

Re: How slow before I stick a bullet in my barrel?

Long before I had a suppressor and the 300BLK came on the scene, I tried to load 150gr FMJBT bullets subsonic in a .308 bolt gun with a 22 inch barrel. I don't have the specific data anymore (I think I was using Unique), but I remember that I was chronographing the loads and started at 1000 fps in s...

Re: 180 grain subsonic load in a ar platform

I have loaded 180gr moly coated BTHPs in my 300 BLK. Here is the info for 3 different barrel combinations. The 16" barrel gun with a rifle buffer/spring was when I first got into the 300BLK and it has a carbine length gas system, the 10.5" Ice Arms and 8.5" KAK barrels both have pisto...

Re: Alliant Power Pro 300MP 220gr Subs "Yard Load" for Bolt Action No Can

312fps and 308fps, pretty slow. Did you have your chronograph set to meters per second which would make the velocity around 1017fps? You guys will love this update.... Just experimented with my first 300 blk loads and the Alliant 300MP powder in my 16" bolt action Using the following: Misc head...

Re: Chronograph. Working or not? How can I truly tell?

I have not tried A1680 powder, but I have some older AA2200 Data Powder (slightly slower than A1680) that I worked up loads with using a Hornady 208gr AMAX a while back. With the same load in a 16" and 8.5" AR-15 style guns I got right at 200 FPS slower with the 8.5" gun. One of my ot...

Re: Alliant Power Pro 300MP 220gr Subs "Yard Load" for Bolt Action No Can

I use Alliant 300MP for my 300 Blackout 8.5" KAK barreled SBR. I use Hornady 208gr AMAX or ELDM. I use CCI400 primers. COAL is 2.180". At 8.5gr of 300MP I got between 972-984 fps for a 5 shot average at 10' from the muzzle. At 9.1gr of 300MP I got 1030-1047 fps for a 5 shot average at 10' ...

Re: Minimum subsonic load to kill hogs at 12 to 20 yds

With a bolt gun and trying to get slow, I would try Trail Boss powder. My experience is that going below 600 fps in a rifle length barrel and you are very likely to stick a bullet in the barrel. Here is a link to Silencer Talk where a guy tries Trail Boss: http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic...

Re: KAK barrel

I have one of the KAK 8.5" value barrels. I was out shooting it on Monday. I was using hand loads with 208 AMAX and Alliant Power Pro 300-MP. I can post the loads later, but I was getting about 980 FPS and 3/4" to 1" groups at 50 yards. Primers were still rounded, so I could probably ...

Re: Handgrip screw hole problem

You could go to the hardware store and get a shorter one. If I remember right it is a 1/4-20. Every AR I have and those of a couple friends the thread for the hand grip is 1/4" X 28 tpi (not 1/4" X 20). I just put in a 1/4" long set screw in one of my Anderson Arms lowers and had to ...

Re: Ballistics calculator that will compute two different bullets/trajectories

I think you might run into the problem of what the ballistics calculator says and what really happens. With my 10.5" SBR, 150gr bullets shoot substantially further to the right (2-3 inches) than 208gr bullets do at only 50 yards with the elevation only being off about 1" and at 100 yards i...
