Re: 190 gr Sub X load FINALLY done.

Awesome. I can live without BHO, but I can't abide a firearm that won't cycle reliably.

Did your loads cycle, Demphna?

Re: FN15 pistol w/ Dead Air Nomad-L sub problems

Sounds undergassed. You may need to pull the gas block and slightly enlarge the gas port.

But first, which mags are you using? I'd make sure you're using 300blk-specific Magpul or Lancer mags. The bigger 30 cal bullets don't always play nice with standard 556 mags.

Re: Titewad

You don't need data. I'm certain you can go up to 5 gr safely with a 147. Max pressure is 55,000-62,000psi. No way you're exceeding that with 5gr of pistol/shotgun powder and a relatively light bullet.

Re: 7" BCM 300 Build Issues

You're welcome. Don't forget to let us know what your gas port size was when you take off the gas block. I built my gun around subs, but if I do decide to get into supersonic loads, I'll just throw on an adjustable gas block like the Aero Precision one that Brownells has for $50. I know it's kind of...

Re: 7" BCM 300 Build Issues

I have a Faxon Match Gunner 7.5" with a 1 in 5 twist. I don't know the port size (gas block was already installed), but I thought I read somewhere it was .12"? Anyway, my gun was short stroking with the weaker subs and ejecting empties but not feeding the next round unless I used a sub wit...

Re: 7" BCM 300 Build Issues

The first thing I'd do is take off the gas block and measure the gas port. I'd think you'd want it to be at around .09" or slightly larger.

You could also mess with a lighter BCG and/or Sprinco reduced power buffer spring.

Are you shooting it with a suppressor?

OK, that's what I thought. Thank you.

I could be wrong, but it seems like all the quietest subsonics I've been loading in various cartridges over the last 23 years have been with single base powders.

Anyone remember Scot Solo 1500 powder?

In my quest to go against the grain and find the quietest sub loads possible that will still cycle an AR, I've tried some oddball powders. For example, I could get 800x to cycle, but no BHO and just .2 gr could be the difference between a subsonic and supersonic load. Fail. When I started handloadin...
