I would like to know if these will fit in an Ares Armor jig.....

I've never been able to warm up to the glock mag style. Glock 30rd mags are an SOB to load the last 10 rds, and the aftermarket Korean ones i have don't always work well when full (feed lips don't hold the rounds securely). Factory glock 30rounders are expensive. Colt mags are easier to load and are always available for less than $20....

farm use wrote:If you did a 9mm sbr build you would probably want a dedicated lower. But they are a lot of fun. I have a few SBRs, and thought I would only build one. One is a 12" Grendel, believe it or not its a awesome round for short barrel. Most think as I did before that the grendel is only for long barrels, ITS NOT. I have a 18" grendel also, and im not really losing much in 6". Iv taking it out to 600 yrds pretty easy and im sure it will go further.
That's interesting, I thought that would definitely be a longer barrel round. I have considered building a Grendel in a 20 inch upper but just never have. What kind of velocities are you getting from your 12" Grendel?

Sadly, I don't have access to the tools to finish an 80% lower, I have wanted to do that for a while.

OK I gotta ask. Why in the world would someone want to SBR a 80% lower?

People were talking about a 9mm build I wasn't really thinking about SBR at the moment I posted that, but why not, you have to engrave your lower already, so get the required name and town/state, assign/ engrave and then register a unique model and S/N, it is more involved than getting the 100% lower from New Frontier and SBR'ing it, but then again there is that option as well.

These have performed very well for me so far, I even load them without my maglula sometimes

I gotta ask. What's the problem with SBRing an 80% lower?

I've always looked at the main reason to do a build off of an 80% lower, besides pride of doing it yourself, was to have an untraceable firearm. Once you file the form 1, that goes out the window.

Now that could just be my way of thinking but it's why I wouldn't sbr an 80.

No problem with it at all. Guess my perception of 80% lowers is there is no serial number. That goes out the window when you SBR it. Also from what I've seen most quality 80% lowers cost as much or more than standard lowers. Factor in the cost of a jig and any savings just went out the window. Lastly if there's any issue with the lower being out of spec or any quality issues you're SOL.

To each their own, I suppose, but paying an FFL transfer fee and filling out a 4473 doesn't make your SBR any less "traceable" either.

I'll stand by my "because I can" argument :-)
