a traditional stripped receiver here in MI should transfer as "other".

thats how my blk pistol build started out - "other" on the 4473. so when i built and registered it as a pistol, i to did the buyer/seller thing on the RI-60 paperwork to send into the state (we have pistol registration laws here) and specifically stayed under 26" so i could carry it on my CPL.

i found this as a sticky over at MGO in the "legal beagle corner" forum. based on the nature of that specific subforum on MGO - moderated by local 2A lawyers - i have to assume that this is currently accurate or it would have been (at the very least) pulled from the sticky list.

What is the < sign that has the line under it? I'm between SBR, and SBR/Pistol.

I dont want to fill out the wrong thing, and have it limit my options later.

All these infringements, oathbreaking, and felonious deprivation of rights under color of law required to enforce those infringements, is really hard to keep track of.

It would be less disrespectful to burn the flag than to put a thin blue line through the middle of it.

Wow. That is confusing.

What if someone in MI wanted to SBR a completed 80% lower? Seems like that would make some heads explode.

I dont have a problem (sorta) with buying a stamp. Just making sure I do the paperwork correctly.

I guess they ran out of, or are afraid of real criminals...

What ever you do, dont ever build a rifle with a 16" bbl that's exactly 26" long.

You'll have both a pistol and a rifle??? Like Schrodinger's cat. Only with guns.

So, I register the 4473 as an "other" for the receiver. Then file form 4 SBR, wait for stamp, then assemble. Then file RI-60 with the State, signing on as both the buyer and the seller. This should keep everything legal. Correct?

This is such a mess. Amendment 1, should have been a list of fines and prison terms for people who have taken an oath yet continue to make and enforce unconstitutional laws.

It is simultaneously a rifle and pistol, until an LEO actually observes it. Then it's whatever he wants it to be. Good thing it's impossible to be exactly 26".
