Help...Choate stock installation on Handi-rifle

Post by Ratbat »

I just received a Choate stock for my H-R. Before I start and mess things up, how do I remove the OEM stock and install the new one? Any advice would be welcomed.

Butt stock, I assume? If it's wood or one of the "normal" plastic stocks, there's a 9/16" bolt holding it on.

Use a Phillip's screwdriver to remove the butt pad screws, remove butt pad.

Using a 9/16" socket (thin-wall is best) and a long extension(s), reach into the large hole in the back of the butt stock and remove the stock bolt.

Don't forget to shake out the washer.

When you put the new stock on, make sure the stock bolt is not now too long - where it blocks the hammer from cocking.

Look here for a LOT of very good info on your Handi, to include even more detail regarding what I just said:
