I dumped a Bushy .223 and a few bolt guns in .223 recently. Sticking with a 12.5 Colt AR and a Sig556 for the peashooters. Really liking my 10.5" JCB 300BLK. No more AR's for me. New passion is LR .308's.

You kinda lost me there when you said no more ARs then mentioned another AR...

That's pretty much what I've done. Still take my 5.56 out to beat bush every now and then too though.attila. wrote:plan i was considering is keeping a 5.56 ar for SHTF purposes with 500 rounds of SS109 and/or 500 rounds of M193 ready to bugout at moments notice and shoot the 300 BLK for hunting, target, fun, and whenever else possible. If i take a class with high round counts, it'll depend on what ammo is cheaper at the time, but i load my own, so thats gonna be dependent on lots of variables.
i guess to answer your question concisely, not dropping the 5.56, just relegating it to another less fun POU.

No AR10's for me thanks. I'm sticking to my Remmy 700 for that.

Not quite - I did give up my .308 for 300BLK.
There is nowhere around here to shoot more than 200 yards and I was getting bored trying to make itsy bitsy groups.
The 300BLK is opening new dors for me and is quite fun to shoot.
Now, it is time for a pig hunt and lotsa BBQ, and brats, and ........

Shoot softly, and carry a big clip.
Re: Anyone drop 223 in favor of 300blk?
I dumped all but 1 5.56 AR. I wanted to make sure that every rifle I owned had a threaded barrel for suppressor use. One did not. The others just never got shot much.
With the ammo shortage I cannot find any 5.56 locally so all that I have is held in reserve and will not be used until things get better. I stocked up on components for the 300 so that is what I am shooting and reloading. I much prefer shooting it over the 5.56 now. For long range stuff I have a .308 700 AAC-SD that I also reload for.
5.56 is not legal for hunting big game here in Virginia so the 300 is much more versatile for sub 200 yard use.

You do know certain manufacturers make "LR-308" rifles in the AR-10 pattern? They call them LR-308.FarmerTed1971 wrote:LR=Long RangeCoyotekiller1 wrote:LR .308= AR-10= ARFarmerTed1971 wrote:I dumped a Bushy .223 and a few bolt guns in .223 recently. Re: Anyone drop 223 in favor of 300blk?
Currently the .223 is use to give me empty casings for 300 case forming.
Other than that, it sits in the safe.
I can't find ammo locally for either gun.
