H4198 left and Rem factory subs right, both shot suppressed.
What powder is (rec 7)? Is it reloader 7? I heard good things about it.

Shot placement is a key fundamental which most tired people tend to sleep on, and dark earth is still the new pink. Save the DI's VIVA LA Colt!

Reloader 7 may be too compressed depending on the bullet length and seating depth.
I had a pretty compressed load with some 178gr bullets trying to get them to cycle. Cleaner burning but left a good bit of completely unburnt powder in the action.

You can find published load date on the Hodgdon site.
http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp
For a 220 you can start at 12-13gr and work down to 1000fps.

In a 9 inch AAC barrel 11.5gr is constistant at about 996fps so 11.6 may be optimal in SHORT barrels.-k- wrote:You can find published load date on the Hodgdon site.

DD I wonder if the ES will be less?
I have been nothing but frustrated with A1680 in the BLK. It being so dirty is a sign of poor burn and variations in efficiency causing the, IMHO, huge vel swings.
I have a LB of H4198 and will try it with the 208 A-Max and see if it works.

Using federal primers my spread was very small.

With the A-Max 208 11.5 of H4198 was crunchy compressed and in my AR 16" @1049 FPS... dropped to 11.2 and that was 959? and a 1042 Will load a few more. But that's only slightly compressed.
Edit to add powder

Clarify the powder good sir. How do you like the A-max? I have 500 to load and evaluate, I heard accuracy is top notch.JohnInNH wrote:With the A-Max 208 11.5 was crunchy compressed and in my AR 16" @1049 FPS... dropped to 11.2 and that was 959? and a 1042 Will load a few more.
