optimal 300 blackout barrel length
I was wondering what is the optimal barrel length for this cartridge? Since this cartridge uses HG powder which burn up very quickly, what is the optimal length for supersonic? at what barrel length does it stop giving higher velocities?

That all depends for what you want with it. Subsonic 240g is going to have alot different optimal length than a 110g super, which Im sure you already knew, but what type of projectile are we talking?

Re: optimal 300 blackout barrel length
sorry if this sounds dumb but what is optimal bullet weight for this cartridge for supersonic? I have a few of 168 grain that I hope to use with this cartridge. Could this weigh be used for deer or small game at 400 yards? It seems like I need to go lighter like 110-150 grain.

Re: optimal 300 blackout barrel length
I like 130's because they are longer than 110's, which lets you get closer to the lands of the rifling for better accuracy, while still being light enough to get the velocities needed to make the bullet perform like a big game bullet. My BLK's have been shooting on both sides of 1MOA with 130's, about 2moa with 110's, sometimes a little worse, and the 150 to 180g bullets shoot very very well, when loaded out to full mag length, but they dont run fast enough to get optimal expansion for medium game sized targets.

It depends - optimal for what. About 125 is seeming to be the right neighborhood. I would not go above 155 for supersonic (except for 3-gun).

What 130's are you using?? When I got into this little gun I fully intended it to be82nd airborne wrote:I like 130's because they are longer than 110's, which lets you get closer to the lands of the rifling for better accuracy, while still being light enough to get the velocities needed to make the bullet perform like a big game bullet. for 100% sub sonic use. Now its turning out to be so fun, maybe I will be tempted
to try some supers. The 130's sounds about the right balance between velocity
and performance.

And how fast can you push it??
What barrel length??
Re: optimal 300 blackout barrel length
Probably around 30-40 inches stops giving higher velocities.
