Making 300 out of .223

Post by Sdustin »

I'm really thinking about putting together a upper in 300 with a 9" barrel but first I want to be set up to reload. I want to spend the least amount as I can, thinking about a lee single stage press, I don't care about time (Ive got more time than money) my question is what's the least amount of equipment necessary to resize .223 brass. I know I'll need dies and a case trimmer but is it possible to do the big cut with a band, hack saw then the fine trim with the case trimer? I really like the power of a 7.62x39mm in a reliable ar platform and I plan on getting a 7.62sdn-6 and the thought of sub rounds through that would be awesome but I want to know what's involved in reloading before I start buying stuff. Thanks.
