300blk vs. .308

Post by Buzduk »

If i am not going to get an upper for an AR and just shoot out of a bolt action is there any reason to get 300blk over .308? I will be using the gun for deer/pig/yotes!

I know that there will be some people who disagree with me, but cest la vie. Simply, you probably already know that the answer is an astounding NO. A .308 is a much better cartridge than the 300 Blackout. Not only are the balistics better, but the ammo is also readily available. I don't foresee anytime in the near future being able to walk into "Sports Store X" and be able to grab a few boxes off of the shelf. You may have to order .308 subs, but they are not too hard to find either.

It depends on how much you like recoil. My Steyr Scout weighs 6.6 lbs and is brutal to shoot in 308. For a youth, woman, or man who has grown tired of recoil, the 300 AAC BLACKOUT would be good.

Just make sure to buy a fast-twist 308 if you want to be able to shoot 308 subs.

I know that 300blk shines in sbr form but what kind of yardage can I get out of a 16-20 inch barrel with supersonics?

I am hoping that mine will as soon as AAC sends me my upper. :D I'd heard that knights had shipped the rails; so, any word Silvers? Huh? Huh?

We have the rails in house now.

Supersonic is good to about 400 yards.

I have taken at least 15 pigs so far with the 300 Blackout. I also took all 6 of my deer
using the following load listed below.
