Here is an excellent thread that discusses the barrel break in process ad nauseam.

I have personally used and gotten excellent results from the Tubb FF & TMS products though.
Namely increased velocity & lower pressures and minimal fouling

Probably makes the bore larger which may lower velocity.

Dr.Phil the Tubb's system has given me good results also. Had higher velocities and better standard deviations after use. Picks up less fouling and a bit easier to clean. Have had good results with the higher end bore pastes also.

In the purest scientific sense, I suppose it does make the bore larger by a miniscule amount as does polishing anything, but the velocity increase is due to a polished bore.silencertalk wrote:Probably makes the bore larger which may lower velocity.
These results are fairly well documented and reviewed.

Whatever your opinion is of David Tubb or Barrel Break in, the product works as advertised.
I've used it on four barrels now with similar results in all cases.
- Increased velocity using same charge weight before & after treatment.
- Minimal fouling in the bore
- Same or better accuracy after treatment
