Bullet Suggestion

Post by 1873spfd »

I have successfully used 125 and 150 gr 30-30 projectiles to take whitetail with 300 BO.
Considering some 110 and 115 gr bullets. Availability is poor.
Any experience or thoughts on using 100 gr RNSP intended for 30 cal carbine?
The bullets are available.
Thanks

What are you firing them in? They might not feed in a MSR.

Check with the manufacturer at the velocity window it'll expand in. Then compare that to what you can expect to get out of your barrel. A chrono'ed velocity would be nice if you can do that.

The 30 carbine bullet can work, tha half jackets are a real pain to get to feed this. 30 carbine velocities are about equal to a 10” Blackout, so if you’re happy with the results in the 30 carbine, I guess it would be fine.

Any of the 110-115 arming bullet would be better. A Quick Look at Grafs, Midsourh, powder valley blue collar and midway shows 110 Varmegeddon, 110 Barnes for blackout(excellent choice), Sierra varmint 110 a max, 110 Hornady soft points…..

Plenty of great choices that will perform better with less hassle.
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

]I'd forgotten to look at Powder Valley. Thanks for the suggestions. Shooting an AR 16" parts gun. No issues cycling the 30/30 bullets.
Gave up on 240gr cast and coated from MBC
