I have a Ruger bolt action 300 Blk and love it.
Mostly shooting sub loads in it, and it will work with whatever.
An AR pistol is on the way, and I was wondering what would be a good load to start with.
I've been told to use the 200+240 grain cast bullets.
Then for the powder, Lil Gun , H110, 4227, etc.
The barrel length is 10.5 " long.
It doesn't have to be subsonic, but over 1000 fps is ok.
My concern is making the AR cycle ok.
Thanks for any info.

Re: Need recommended load for AR pistol
I've used Lil'gun and IMR 4227 for subs in my SBR Blk. Both work and cycle the action but 4227 runs much cooler than Lil'gun, MUCH cooler. The Lil'gun never went past load development. I found that cast bullets shoot ok but the accuracy wasn't what I wanted. I went with SMK 220 gr as my target loads and 200 gr Maker for hunting. Both will touch holes at 50 yards if I do my part. 970-980 fps is the sweet spot for my 8" barrel with all my sub loads.
Try some 110 gr Varmageddons with Trailboss powder in your Ruger with a supressor for mousefart quiet loads.

Thanks for that info.
I have some 4227 for the .44 mag already.
Tomorrow, I'll look for some of those bullets you described.
Thanks again

Google SMK 220 grain. It seems everybody has them in stock but they are far from cheap. I'm glad I got my stockpile of them loaded up before the covid craziness hit the markets.
