Curious if anyone has been able to push 110 grain barnes black tips or hornady 110 vmax close to or above 2300 ft/sec with a 10.5” barrel in an AR chambering?

Yes, for the VMax

No, for the Barnes

Data for 2400 fps in a 16” barrel will get you close.

I've gotten the barnes 110gr up to 2301fps with an 8.5" noveske barrel. Took 20.8gr of H110 and I had every pressure sign in the book as a result. Flat primers, extruded primers, split necks etc. Plus they were sticky! If I didnt put 5 coil extractor springs in all of my bolts I dont think they would have extracted. They basically ripped the rims off the cases they required to much force to remove from the chamber. First, I've found out that this particular barrel is just plain fast. Faster than my 12.5" BCM barrel. Second, 20.4gr is the absolute max I can load these boolets to with LC or frontier brass. Nets me an avg of 2250fps. This is .2gr over the published load data so work up to it.

With the 110 tac-tx I've seen 2,270 fps in an 8" , average was 2250 fps.
But i also saw loads of pressure signs at 21 gr H110 and it was destroying my brand new hornady brass on the first shot, so i backed off and stayed (edit) at 20.8 gr
for a hunt load i smoked a white tail buck with in WY at 115 ish yards.

At 20.8 it was still very hard on my brass and I would have gone lower, but I had already loaded up my hunting ammo 20.8 gr & shot a drop chart and didn't have time to go back and load more.

20.8 for my gun was the most accurat/precise group aka smallest group from my testing......but your milage may vary.

Start low and work up......my gun is different that yours....be safe.

Note........
!!! my charges i was testing went above max !!!
so be aware of what you read and compare it to barnes data for the bullet.

Crazy how that works, same spot I saw issues. One of these days I'm gonna end up blowing myself up playing with these hot loads.

I just checked my notes and edited, but it was still the same region i had trouble, just saw that i had put down the wrong charge i went with.

Honestly after learning how hard that was on brass i plan not to go so hot anymore just to be safer, accuracy was great at 20.8 gr (oal 2.250") but then again i had another good group near 20.4 also.

Ah I see! Yeah I couldnt get past 20.8. Maybe with new brass but everything I loaded was once or twice fired and it wasnt having it.

I settled with 20.0 gr of H110 for the v Max and 19.8 for the Barnes 110 Tac for my 10 inch barrel. As you posted, going above starts pressure signs. Once I get my stock for my Howa bolt action, going to see how high I can go with H110. Should be interesting.

Hard on brass and popping primers are two completely different things.

If you're blowing primers out the bottom of the case or getting a nice extractor impression in the case head you're over pressure.

If you're ripping the rims off the case, have ejector swipes or trouble sizing the web of the case, you're over gassed.

I backed off 110 grain Varmageddon's because they were blowing up at 350,000 rpms and cost me a re-core on a suppressor. That was a 8", 1/5 twist. The brass was fine, but the bullet failed.

Beware of unintended consequences.

Suppose I’ll be close to 2300 ft/sec with loads that aren’t as hot given the extra 2” of barrel in my 10.5”. I know there are exceptions, but in general, what would y’all think Id need to be at charge wise with H110/W296 to be close to the 2300 ft/sec mark?
