Before I was recently prohibited from shooting, I had tried some Shooters World Socom with the 150gn Gold Dot.
The last load I took and fired at the range seemed a little mild, no pressure signs in my 16" AR and shot pretty well. Definitely a load I will revisit at first chance when the shooting prohibition is lifted!! I know one or two members here use Shooters World powder and being it is not a barn burner load, and is accurate I will post it. Maybe somebody will chime in on a improvement from it.
I used converted LC brass, all at 1.365 +/- 2, dropped 20.1grs of Socom with regular small rifle primers and loaded them to a length of 2.185 inches.
I was on a "sight in" range at my local gun club which is 35 yards and they all found the same hole. Not a perfect .30 caliber hole but there was no paper left between the entries. The chrono showed they averaged 2058fps over 5 shots with a SD of 7 and a ES of 19.
Hope that may help, I really like this projectile!

Speer GD 150 BLK works far better than 125 Nolser or 120 grain Barnes in my real world experience
My 10yo son shot a Pronghorn at 200y a couple days ago, massive damage, lung shot, ran 50y
Penetration of the skin was enough to get this bullet to full expansion, and it punched an 1 1/2" entry hole thru the ribs, the bullet did not make it thru to the rib cage on the other side

Bear Creek upper with an Omega suppressor. the C.O.A.L. was 2.145 using Winchester small rifle primers. powders used were A-1680 and H-110. I loaded up 10 rounds of each. depending how the Magnetospeed chronograph felt, each shot string recorded from 10-5 shots. here are the shot string average velocities:
A-1680- 20grs. 1870fps, 20.5grs.1886fps, 21grs. 1913fps, 21.5grs. 1962fps.
H-110 - 17.7grs. 2008fps, 18grs, 2057fps, 18.3grs. 2056fps, 18.6grs. 2066fps.
all grouped within 3/4" at 25 yds (probably would be tighter if not for my poor shooting ) except the load with 21.5 grs. of A-1680. it opened up to about 2"! because I plan on hunting with these bullets, I wanted the highest velocity. H-110 gave that and I decided to stick with 18grs. for my load because the 18.3 & 18.6 loads had more felt recoil with not much velocity gain. they also started showing bolt marks on the brass.
Not sure about the first powder but for the h110 those loads sound pretty hot

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
they shoot good and don't show any pressure signs in any of my 16" barrels. Bear Creek & Mod. 1 Sales uppers and a Mini 14.

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
My experience with the top end of 296/H110 loads is that you get little warning from warm to dangerous in a visible pressure sign. You find it with your chronograph as your numbers show. 1/2 grain of powder and 10 fps increase in velocity, or even a dip. The noticeable increase in recoil is also a sign of increased pressure.
For what it’s worth, Speer’s data for that bullet/powder combination is 17.8 grains @ 2.180. Working up to 1/2 grain over/under max with a different rifle or powder lot seems pretty normal to me.

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
Question for you guys, I have found an accurate load for my 10.5" pistol, but it is only 1720 fps. Do you think the bullet will perform at that speed inside of 100 yards? I really would like to use it for deer this year if I can.

Page 8 I dropped velocities, there is more info there about penetration and expansion width. A good guess is 1500 fps at 100.

Dellet,
Thank you, I missed that and lord knows I have read this thread a few times.
